Mother(Enate) Abebeche Gobena

Enate Abebeche Gobena who is also called the Ethiopia "Mother Theressa" has been working to save the lives of children since the 1970 drought that took the lives of millions of our people and the major cause of the 1974 Ethiopian Revolution.

On her VOA Amharic interview(April 15) with Tizita Belachew she shard with us her terrible encounter in Wello, north Ethiopia thirty years ago a baby sucking a dead mother breast while she was trying to share pieces of bread with hungry and destitute fellow Ethiopians who were not allowed to enter Dessi to get some help and were left to die.

Enate Abebeche's humanitarian service which started in the Wolo mountain continue until today saving the lives of abandoned children in the forests, city corners and rural Ethiopia.

Her contribution is now well recognized by international organization and get some funding and we should also recognize her contribution and give her moral and financial support.

Some of the children she saved now are grown up and spread throughout the Diaspora and communicating with her and sharing their physical and emotional growth thanks to their mother, Emama Abebeche.

Ethiopia needs many Abebeches to tackle the growing problem of abandoned children. Otherwise our country will certainly be an attraction for foreign "baby buyers" cheaply.

This danger was clearly presented on the VOAs "Gudifechas" becomes common in Addis Ababa to see many babies with their foreign parents as if mixed marriage reached a new high in TPLF's Ethiopia.
